\nChief Secretary Balochistan Abdul Aziz Aqeeli that time is not far when polio will be completely eradicated from Pakistan and Balochistan.
\nHe has said that people from all walks of life, including parents, have a role to play in saving future architects from a contagious disease like polio.
\n\u201cThe services of Polio Workers in this regard are commendable,\u201d he said.
\n\u201cPhotographs of the 14 heroes who were martyred during the polio campaign should be displayed in the offices of the Health Department and the Civil Secretariat,\u201d he said.
\nHe said that time is not far when polio will be completely eradicated from Pakistan and Balochistan.
\nHe expressed these views at a function held at the University of Information Technology and Management Sciences (BUITEMS) on Thursday to distribute certificates of appreciation and shields to polio workers who excelled during the polio campaign last month.
\nThe function was also addressed by Secretary Health Balochistan Saleh Muhammad Nasar, Emergency Operation Center Balochistan Coordinator Hameedullah Nasar, Vice Chancellor BUITEMS Farooq Ahmed bazai, religious leader Dr Ata-ur-Rehman and others.
\nHe said it can be said that the time is not far when this insidious disease will be completely eradicated from Pakistan and Balochistan.
\nHe said that the threat is still there as 8 consecutive cases of polio have been reported from Waziristan in the last few months. Certificates of appreciation and shields have been distributed among the 80 workers who rendered excellent services during the month of May in high risk districts Chaman, Quetta, Pishin, Killa Abdullah.
\n\u201cWe are instructing the all Deputy Commissioners of all the districts across the province to distribute certificates and shields of appreciation to the workers who have rendered excellent services during the Polio campaign with in one week,\u201d he said.
\nHe said that people from all walks of life, including parents, have a role to play in protecting future architects from a contagious disease like polio.
\n\u201cGiving two drops of polio vaccine to children up to 5 years of age can prevent them from becoming disabled for life. The services of polio workers in this regard are commendable,\u201d he said.
\nHealth Secretary Balochistan Saleh Mohammad Nasar also announced to distribute cash prizes among the workers who have shown excellent performance during the polio campaign.
\nCoordinator Emergency Operations Center Balochistan Hameedullah Nasar has said that the GPS system was used to monitor the polio workers works during the campaign as a pilot project in Quetta which was 100% Successful.
\nHe said that the most encouraging thing is that during the last campaign coverage was 97.5%.
\nHe said that the number of refusal parents on polio has now come down from 70,000 to 5,000. Dr. Anwar Qazi, Director General Health Department, Deputy Commissioners of various districts including Pishin, Qila Abdullah, Mastung, Chaman and Quetta and District Health Officers were also present on the occasion.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
