KARACHI
\nAmidst incidents of violence, and clashes, the ruling Pakistan People\u2019s Party (PPP) won with a big margin in the first phase of Sindh LG polls in 14 districts of the province, according to the unofficial results.
\nAccording to the unofficial and unconfirmed results, Pakistan People\u2019s Party grabbed 487 sets of Town Committees during the first phase of LG polls in Sindh. The Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) stood second with 78 seats, Independents third with 60 Town Committees seats, and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) fourth with 12 seats.
\nSeven Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazlur-backed (JUIF) candidates were declared victorious while JUI and MQM secured two and one general member seats respectively. The 14 districts of Sindh include Larkana, Kambar-Shahdadkot, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Kashmore, Sukkur, Ghotki, Khairpur, Naushehro Feroze, Shaheed Benazirabad, Sanghar, Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, and Tharparkar.
\nIn Larkana, PPP candidates won in all seven wards of Naudero municipal committee and 10 ward of Ratodero municipal committee.
\nIn Kashmore, the party won clean swept the polls by winning in all 11 wards.
\nIn town committees of Ghousepur and Kandhkot, PPP\u2019s candidates won in all 10 wards.
\nIn town committe of Deharki, PPP\u2019s candidates secured wins in 11 out of 14 wards.
\nIn Larkana, PPP\u2019s provincial minister Sohail Anwer Sial\u2019s younger brother Shahrukh Sia has been elected chairman municipal committee, while federal minister Khursheed Shah\u2019s son Zeerak Shah won in Sukkur\u2019s union council 5. Both contested the election on PPP\u2019s ticket.
\nIn Thaparkar\u2019s Mithi city, PPP emerged victorious in all but one wards. The sole ward was won by an Independent candidate after recounting. In Digri, polls were held on nine out of 14 wards. All nine wards were won by PPP candidates. The party also won in six out of nine wards in Ubaro town committee.
\nThe other three wards were won by Independent candidates. In Khairpur, PPP won 21 out of 29 wards while Independent candidates won 3 and PTI won one ward. In Sukkur, PPP received 26 UCs out of 32 successfully. The other three UCs were won by the independent candidates and two PTI candidates.
\nOn Sunday, two people were killed and at least 20 people were injured in the clashes that broke outside various polling stations, local media reported.
\nThe polling began at 8 am and continued until 5pm without any pause. The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had extended the voting time in areas where the polling was stopped due to some reasons. =DNA<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
