\nSpeakers at a training workshop on urged the government departments, civil society and all other relevant stockholders for pragmatic steps to curb the social evil of child abuse from society, adding that awareness among masses about the child rights would play fundamental role to prevent children from all kind of abuse and exploitation.
\nA three-day capacity building workshop was organized by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Child Protection and Welfare Commission (KCPWC) with the support of UNICEF to train the newly recruited staff of Child Protection Units in 12 districts of the province.
\nRepresentatives of health, health, education, social welfare departments and judiciary attended the workshop.
\nThe overall aim of the workshop was to strengthen the existing system of child protection of prevention and response by discussing the case management system and referral system.
\nSpeakers shed light over the KP Child Protection and Welfare Act 2010 implementation and emphasized over the recognition of imminent need for an integrated child protection system across the province.
\nKP government has envisioned an effective, integrated system, which could ensure children protection from all forms of abuse and enable the specific needs assessment to provide cross-sectorial support to victims, they said.
\nGovernment representatives said that KP Child Protection & Welfare Commission and social welfare department could not provide all protection services to children in the province unless each department play their due role to protect the children across the province.
\nThe training workshop would help to build the capacity on child protection and will help all the collaborative departments to understand how collectively we can protect children from abuse, violence, exploitation, neglect and harmful practices.
\nMoreover, the provincial government has recently hired a social service workforce and established child protection units at the district level.
\nThis training will be a good opportunity for the newly hired staff to increase their knowledge and learn skills required to deal with children in need of protection services.
\nImran Takkar, child Rights expert and trainer of the workshop, said that capacity building and coordination among the key department and stakeholders were key components for strengthening the child protection system.
\nHe said it was pertinent to create awareness among the masses keeping in view children from all kinds of abuse and exploitation.
\nAt the end Ijaz Muhammad Khan Deputy Chief appreciated the UNICEF and Oxford Management policy for organizing the training workshop.
\nMr Ijaz said that the KP government has made effective amendments in the laws as well as established 12 child protection units in districts while eight child courts have already been established in the province with the purpose to ensure protection and justice to children.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
