\nThe 23rd martyrdom anniversary of Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed recipient of Nishan-e-Haider was observed on Tuesday at his mausoleum in his native town of Swabi in a solemn ceremony.
\nAccording to Inter Services Public Relations, Inspector General of Frontier Corps, Major General Adil Yameen laid a wreath at the shrine of the martyr and a smartly turned out contingent of the Pakistan Army presented a guard of honour on the occasion.
\nA heartfelt tribute was paid to Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed at the ceremony which was attended by people from all walks of life. The civil and military officials and the martyr\u2019s family also attended the ceremony.
\nCaptain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed Nishan-e-Haider was born in district Sawabi of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 1970. During the Kargil conflict on the Line of Control in 1999, he emerged as the symbol of courage.
\nHe was martyred on this day in 1999 gallantly defending the motherland and was decorated with country`s highest gallantry award, Nishan-e-Haider.
\nPresident Dr Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday paid tribute to Captain Karnal Sher Khan for his valour and bravery on the 23rd anniversary of his martyrdom.
\nIn their separate messages, the president and the prime minister said the sacrifice of the national hero, also the recipient of the highest gallantry award Nishan-e-Haider, would always be remembered.
\nPresident Dr Arif Alvi said the nation was indebted to the immense sacrifices rendered by the martyred soldiers for the sovereignty of their motherland. PM Sharif said the nation paid rich tribute to Kargil war hero Captain Karnal Sher Khan on his 23rd martyrdom anniversary.
