\nPakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman and former Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday said that we cannot afford a weak army in the country.
\nAddressing a seminar in Islamabad, he said \u201cWe have never seen democracy, if the courts will give justice then we will never be destroyed.\u201d
\nImran added, \u201cI went to Britain at the age of 18 and saw democracy there and democracy is stable in western countries.\u201d
\nThe former PM further said the only difference between a prosperous and a poor society is the law and society in which there is justice is a successful society.
\nTaking a swipe at dictators he said all the dictators placed themselves above the law and weakened the institutions. \u201cA strong army is crucial for the country and we cannot afford a weak army in our country because everyone have witnessed the situation of the countries which had a weak army,\u201d Imran said.
\n\u201cNo one else was criticized as much as I was as the Prime Minister. As PM, I did not get relief from the court for three years and I had never tried to feed money to the media,\u201d he added.
\nThe former prime minister said that both the bigwigs of PML-N and PPP have been involved in corruption. He also said that people were happy when Pervez Musharraf took power. Imran also posed the question that why did the rule of law not came during the tenure of the two ruling families.
\n\u201cWhen I became the Prime Minister, I was not under any threat from the media. Fake news of tax evasion was launched against my ministers and I instructed to not arrest any journalist,\u201d he added.
\nThe PTI chairman alleged that both these families have controlled the media.He said, \u201cNo one else has been criticized as much as I was as the Prime Minister. When I became the Prime Minister, I had no threat from the media.\u201d
\nEarlier in a message on social media on Saturday, PTI chairman Imran Khan has said that they are contesting against the PML-N, the biased Election Commission of Pakistan and the Mr X & Y. He said that his team should keep all above mentioned factors in mind.
\nHe also shared the hashtag of \u2018Balla Chalao, Mulak Bachao\u2019. \u201cThis is not the election only. We are going to fight the battle for the real freedom. This is Jihad. I request all the voters to come out to vote on July 17 and also persuade others o vote. We can only beat their rigging if the people will come out,\u201d he maintained. NA former speaker Asad Qaisar said that tomorrow the future of the country is going to be decided. \u201cPunjab will have to decide whether they want freedom or slavery. The people will have to decide whether they want to support the status quo,\u201d he added.
\nHe said that the people of Punjab are with Imran Khan. \u201cImran Khan has challenged the forces against Pakistan. Each vote is part of the referendum,\u201d he maintained. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
