MARDAN: People have shown concern over the increased prices of milk, meat by the livestock department. It may be noted that the district administration fixed the rate of essential commodities in the district price review committee headed by deputy commissioner which was included by the officials of district administration, journalists, lawyers, and representatives of different organizations of traders. Sources added that the prices were fixed in the committee. However, sources added that the butchers and milk seller has submitted a petition in the Peshawar High Court. Sources added that they requested the court that the rate of milk and meat be fixed by the livestock instead of district administration. Sources added that the PHC decided the case in favor of petitioners. District director livestock Dr. Misal Khan Mohmand on 13th July issued the price list. According to the price list beef rate was fixed Rs 580 per kg, buffalo meat rate Rs 550 per kg, minced meat at Rs 600 per kg, mutton rate was fixed Rs 1100 per kg, milk Rs 155 per kg and yogurt at Rs 160 per kg. However, the district administration has fixed the price of meat at 400 to 430 rupees per kg, mincemeat at 480 rupees, milk at 100 rupees and yogurt at 110 rupees per kg.
