{"id":27267,"date":"2018-06-08T23:06:45","date_gmt":"2018-06-08T13:06:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/?p=27267"},"modified":"2018-06-08T23:06:45","modified_gmt":"2018-06-08T13:06:45","slug":"adb-to-help-k-p-produce-over-5000mw","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/adb-to-help-k-p-produce-over-5000mw\/","title":{"rendered":"ADB to help K-P produce over 5,000MW"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Monitoring desk<br \/>\nISLAMABAD<br \/>\nThe Asian Development Bank (ADB) is set to assist Pakistan in generating 5,204 megawatts of electricity by setting up hundreds of micro-hydroelectric power plants in off-grid areas of Khyber-Pakthunkhwa (K-P) and 2,330MW solar capacity in Punjab by 2026 under its \u201cAccess to Clean Energy Investment Programme\u201d.<br \/>\n\u201cBy 2026, the project would have supported the construction of micro-hydroelectric power plants totaling 5,204MW and the installation of solar facilities in schools (of which 30% will be girls\u2019 schools) and primary health care facilities (including 500 used by women), totalling 42MW in K-P and 2,330MW in Punjab,\u201d said a report launched by the ADB. The 2018 ADB Sustainability Report, which was released to mark the World Environment Day, documents the bank\u2019s efforts to promote economic, social and environmental sustainability in its operation, corporate activities and facilities in 2016 and 2017.<br \/>\nThe report said the Access to Clean Energy Investment Programme, approved in 2016, was anticipated to benefit about 240,000 households and 2.6 million students by increasing access to clean energy and more reliable electricity services in these areas.<br \/>\nThe ADB approved a $325-million loan to help enhance Pakistan\u2019s energy security by installing clean energy sources and improving people\u2019s access to electricity in K-P and Punjab.<br \/>\nThe proposed ADB assistance will contribute to Pakistan\u2019s national goal of enhanced energy security. The programme will be implemented over a period of 5-10 years. This outcome will be achieved through four components. These include expanding access to renewable energy, providing women and girls with increased opportunities to obtain energy benefits, enhancing institutional capacity to foster sustainability and
