{"id":273402,"date":"2022-07-25T15:27:29","date_gmt":"2022-07-25T10:27:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/?p=273402"},"modified":"2022-07-25T15:27:29","modified_gmt":"2022-07-25T10:27:29","slug":"pkr-remains-under-pressure-falls-to-232-against-dollar-in-interbank","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/pkr-remains-under-pressure-falls-to-232-against-dollar-in-interbank\/","title":{"rendered":"PKR remains under pressure, falls to 232 against dollar in interbank"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The rupee continued to lose ground against the dollar on Monday, hitting a new low of Rs232 in the interbank market.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Forex Association of Pakistan (FAP), the rupee lost Rs3.63 against Friday\u2019s close of Rs228.37 to reach Rs232 around 1:30pm.<\/p>\n<p>Mettis Global Director Saad Bin Naseer said that the rupee remained under pressure due to \u201cpolitical uncertainty\u201d surrounding the run-off Punjab chief minister election.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMeanwhile, on the demand front, importers have fast tracked opening of their letters of credit in view of the rupee\u2019s fall,\u201d he said, adding that exporters were also parking their funds abroad to maximise their returns.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe government, in collaboration with the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), should issue guidelines to ensure exporters convert their dollar earnings to rupees immediately after receiving payments,\u201d he told Dawn.com.<\/p>\n<p>Delays by exporters in an effort to maximise their rupee earnings has wreaked havoc on the exchange rate causing a significant shortage of the greenback in the market, he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The rupee continued to lose ground against the dollar on Monday, hitting a new low of Rs232 in the interbank market.
