{"id":274168,"date":"2022-07-29T08:15:00","date_gmt":"2022-07-29T03:15:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/?p=274168"},"modified":"2022-07-29T08:15:00","modified_gmt":"2022-07-29T03:15:00","slug":"imran-condemns-sindh-opposition-leaders-arrest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/imran-condemns-sindh-opposition-leaders-arrest\/","title":{"rendered":"Imran condemns Sindh opposition leader\u2019s arrest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u2018Pure fascism\u2019<br \/>\n ISLAMABAD<br \/>\nPakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan has condemned the arrest of PTI member and opposition leader in Sindh Assembly Haleem Adil Sheikh allegedly by the Pakistan Peoples Party- (PPP) led provincial government.<br \/>\nThe former premier took to his official Twitter handle to \u201cstrongly condemn the persecution and arrest\u201d of Haleem Adil.<br \/>\nDeclaring the act to be \u201cpure fascism\u201d, Imran claimed that it reflected the Zardari-Sharif clan\u2019s \u201cmafia\u2019s approach of eliminating those they cannot purchase\u201d, which he maintained was \u201cabsolutely unacceptable in any democracy\u201d.<br \/>\nMPA Haleem Adil Sheikh was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) in a case pertaining to a land scam allegedly carried out over three decades ago in Malir, Karachi.<br \/>\nA team of ACE Karachi nabbed Sheikh on Wednesday around 3 pm from the ACE office in Jamshoro district where he had appeared to record his statement in another FIR of acquiring land allegedly in a fraudulent way in Jamshoro.<br \/>\nHe has been accused of causing a loss of Rs160 million to the exchequer by forging the land record to get four acres of land and for further encroaching on another four acres of adjoining land. The land was obtained on a lease of 30 years for poultry farming but a farmhouse was later established in the name of palm village.<br \/>\n\u201cSheikh\u2019s life is under threat from the Sindh government,\u201d alleged Dua Bhutto, the PTI leader\u2019s wife in a video statement.<br \/>\n\u201cHe is being moved around in different areas of Sindh in a private vehicle and that too without security,\u201d she claimed.
