{"id":274359,"date":"2022-07-30T00:48:51","date_gmt":"2022-07-29T19:48:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/?p=274359"},"modified":"2022-07-30T00:48:51","modified_gmt":"2022-07-29T19:48:51","slug":"crackdown-on-smoke-emitting-vehicles-launched-in-peshawar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/crackdown-on-smoke-emitting-vehicles-launched-in-peshawar\/","title":{"rendered":"Crackdown on smoke-emitting vehicles launched in Peshawar"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> PESHAWAR<br \/>\nThe provincial department of Transport and Mass Transit has launched a crackdown on smoke-emitting vehicles plying on the roads of the provincial capital, said a handout.<br \/>\nThe action was taken after the department concluded a five-day awareness campaign to control and prevent environmental pollution caused by emitting vehicles in Peshawar district.<br \/>\nThe staff of vehicles emission testing stations (VETS) along with the police teams have started patrolling the different roads of Peshawar to check the smoke of the vehicles.<br \/>\nThe statement said that those vehicles who caused pollution and did not meet standards would be fined as per the ruler\u2019s regulations.<br \/>\nManager and Facilities Emission Testing Stations Zubair Khan said that in the first phase, a five-day awareness campaign was conducted in Peshawar.<br \/>\nDuring the campaign, drivers and transporters of more than five thousand vehicles were informed about the crackdown and pollutant emissions.<br \/>\nThey informed about the control and prevention of the environmental pollution caused by vehicle smoke and distributed pamphlets and brochures, besides, awareness seminars and workshops were also organized in educational institutions, he said.<br \/>\n\u201cIn the first phase, an operation has now been started against those vehicles which are not in accordance with the national environmental standards.<br \/>\nWhile in the second phase, the VETS staff and the police team will start operations against the vehicles that do not conform to the national environmental standards.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PESHAWAR The provincial department of Transport and Mass Transit has launched a crackdown on smoke-emitting vehicles plying on the roads of the provincial capital, said a handout.
