As the monsoon rains wreak havoc in different parts of the country. Following heavy torrential rains and flash floods in different parts of the country, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, departments of Federal Government have taken a leading role in the rescue and relief operations. The federal government is providing the much-needed humanitarian assistance including food and non-food items to thousands of flood victims.
\nBesides provincial departments and Rescue 1122, officials of National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), National Highway Authority (NHA), troops of Pakistan Army, Pakistan Air Force and Frontier Corps, on Sunday, expedited rescue and rehabilitation operations in the flood hit areas of the country including KP and worst affected Balochistan.
\nThe Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) in a fresh flood update on Sunday said that the troops were busy in rescue and relief efforts apart from providing medical care and opening up communication infrastructure.
\nWhile monitoring closely, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif said federal government is working with Balochistan government to provide immediate relief to the flood affected people in the province. The PM after visiting the flood-hit areas of Balochistan to oversee the ongoing relief work and express solidarity with the flood affected people. The Prime Minister said the ongoing relief work will be further accelerated. He said about three hundred people, including 124 from Balochistan, have lost their lives in the floods. He said although there is no compensation for human life, however, the federal government is paying one million rupees to every household of the deceased. The Prime Minister said he has also ordered increase in financial assistance for those whose houses have damaged in the floods.
\nThe PM said these are certainly challenging times for the flood affected people but the government will not leave any stone unturned to provide them relief and ensure their rehabilitation.
\nKeeping in view the current situation in flood affected areas, apart from the government initiatives, there is a dire need to work collectively to support the flood victims. Every year, the country faces heavy rains and floods. On the part of government, there should be long term planning to address such kind an environmental issues in future.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
