\nThe elementary and secondary education department has formally launched a month-long campaign to enroll one million out-of-school children in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
\nThe education department in the first three days of its drive has enrolled over 2 lakh kids in the government schools.
\nA statement issued here on Wednesday said that Minister for elementary and secondary education department Shahram Khan Tarakai chaired a review meeting of the ongoing campaign, which were attended by the secretary education Mutasim Ballah Shah, additional secretary reforms Asafandyar Khattak, MD Private School Regulatory Authority Kabir Khan Afridi director IT and other senior officials.
\nThe statement said that the Minister for Education Shahram Taraki in the meeting issued directives to authorities concerned to enter students enrolment data on the \u2018admission campaign app\u2019 on a daily basis.
\nHe also directed district education officers to submit weekly progress reports about the enrolment campaign across the province.
\nAfter a threadbare discussion on the overall progress of the provincial education department campaign to attract more schools admissions in KP, the minister also warned of departmental action against district education officers for showing poor performance, the statement said.
\n\u201cNo admission fee should be charged from newly enrolled students and all concerned officials should be tasked with relevant important responsibilities in the admission process to make the provincial government campaign successful in reaching out to every home,\u201d Shahram Khan added.
\nWhile presiding over the review meeting, KP education minister was informed that so far more than 2 lakh students, including 73 thousand promoted students, have been admitted across the province.
\nHe said that special attention should be paid to the merged districts so that out-of-school children could be attracted to schools.
\nShahram Khan Tarakai directed the MD Private Schools Regulatory Authority to submit a detailed report on the newly admitted students in the private schools in the next meeting.
\nHe also sought a strict action against the non-register private schools in the province.
\nOn this occasion, the Textbook Board officials informed the meeting about the availability of the free textbook to government schools in KP.
