\nAmun Taraqqi Party (ATP) has made a plea from Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in best interest of the people and country that to give verdict of prohibited funding of PML-N and PPP before holding of by-election, which is being scheduled on Sept 25, so that it should assist people in electing competent and eligible leadership through their ballot.
\nThe appeal was made by the party chairman Muhammad Faiq Shah in a letter to Chief Election Commissioner, according to a statement issued here on Thursday.
\nThe letter was submitted by the ATP central secretary information Muhammad Awais Khan, Ishtiaq Elahi in Election Commission.
\nFaiq described it would be a historic feat to have come to verdict in internal and external foreign assets and funding for level playing field in by-election and general elections for major\/mainstream political parties.
\nThe whole nation is looking toward the election commission as it had earlier made decisions without any pressure and impartially.
\nTherefore, he asked to give a verdict regarding assets and prohibited funding of PML-N and PPP before conducting a by-election, which is being planned to be held on Sept 25.
\nThe letter states that the legislature didn\u2019t play its role in the election legislation.
\nAll present and former rulers have kept conspicuously silent on reforms and legislation, which is strongly condemned, so the hopes and expectations have increased from the election commission of Pakistan, the letter elaborated.
\nIt is therefore demanded that vibrant and firm decisions are needed to be taken before the by-elections to pave the way for free, impartial and transparent elections.
\nFaiq said that his party has time and again informed the election commission, legal institutions, asking them to bring reforms.
\nHowever, he said they have shown negligence and vested interests in this regard.
\nHe noted that currently the election commission has become the centre of the people\u2019s hopes, demanding complete scrutiny of assets of all parliamentary and non-parliamentary parties\u2019 assets and their details to be made public so that better leadership can emerge for the people.
\nShah also called for formulation of an independent board of wisdom and honesty so that accountability, continuity of policies and joint decisions pave the way for real democracy and people\u2019s empowerment.
\nMeanwhile, the ATP central leaders in the letter to ECP had made a plea, gave briefing on aforementioned details to the media and copies of letters to be released.
\nAccording to the letter, the ATP continuously and proactively evaluated and presented action plans for legislation, impartial decisions, reforms and economic and administrative development and played a positive and effective role instead of wasting time on political point scoring.
\nOur destination is the progress of Pakistan and abiding by law and justice, says Shah.
\nThe ATP chief highly appreciated the impartial and legal decisions of the Election Commission in the past as it despite all the pressure.
