{"id":278519,"date":"2022-08-21T08:43:51","date_gmt":"2022-08-21T03:43:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/?p=278519"},"modified":"2022-08-21T08:43:51","modified_gmt":"2022-08-21T03:43:51","slug":"pm-suspends-fixed-tax-collection-through-bills","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/pm-suspends-fixed-tax-collection-through-bills\/","title":{"rendered":"PM suspends fixed tax collection through bills"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> ISLAMABAD<br \/>\nPrime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday immediately suspended the collection of fixed sales tax through electricity bills and directed to devise a new mechanism in this regard.<br \/>\nThe prime minister also directed for an inquiry over the levy of increased sales tax ratio on shopkeepers\/retailers, in the electricity bills other than the agreed one.<br \/>\nPM Shehbaz issued these instructions while presiding over a meeting to review fixed sales tax collection through electricity bills.<br \/>\nThe meeting was attended by Minister for Energy Khurram Dastagir, Finance Minister Miftah Ismail, Minister of State for Petroleum Dr Musadik Malik, Chairman Federal Bureau of Revenue Chairman, concerned federal secretaries and other senior officials.<br \/>\nDuring the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif specifically asked for the inclusion of representatives of traders in the consultation process before taking any decision regarding tax collection from shopkeepers through utility bills.<br \/>\nWhile resolving that the government would take all steps for the economic protection of the poor segments of society, the prime minister also directed the relevant authorities and ministries concerned to immediately devise an effective mechanism for slashing the power rates for the poor. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday immediately suspended the collection of fixed sales tax through electricity bills and directed to devise a new mechanism in this regard.
