\nAnother bad news for electricity consumers as the CPPA has filed its petition in Nepra seeking Rs4.69\/unit increase in the power rate.
\nSources say that there is likelihood that the electricity rate will go up by Rs4.69\/unit as the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) submitted its request to the National Electricity and Power Regulatory Authority.
\nThe increase has been sought in the monthly fuel adjustment for themonth of July. If the raise is granted by the Nepra, the electricity consumers will have to bear an extra burden of Rs65 billion.
\nThe Nepra will hear the CPPA petition on August 31.
\nThe CPPA said that 35.17% electricity was produced from hydro sources; 12.74% from coal; 1.46% from diesel, 10.36% from local gas; 14.98% from imported LNG; 14.20% from atomic energy; and 6.42% electricity was generated from furnace oil in the month of July. It further stated that the cost of electricity produced by diesel remained Rs27.88\/unit; from furnace oil Rs35.69\/unit; from LNG Rs28.28\/unit; and from atomic energy the production cost was Re1\/unit.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
