\nPrime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has cancelled his visit to London and is heading back to the country to have the first-hand knowledge about the flood situation in the country. Shehbaz Sharif while considering the flood situation in the country, cancelled his visit to London where he planned to go to inquire after his ailing granddaughter. Earlier, the prime minister intended to fly to London after his two-day official visit to Qatar, but he decided to travel back to Islamabad to review the ongoing rescue and relief operations in flood-hit areas.
\nOn his arrival in Islamabad, the prime minister would chair a meeting wherein the officers of the National Disaster Management Authority and other departments would brief him on the rescue and relief efforts.
\nEarlier in the day, Shehbaz Sharif departed Doha for Islamabad after concluding his two-day official visit to Qatar. On the invitation of Amir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, this was the prime minister\u2019s first visit to the country since assuming office in April 2022.
\nThe prime minister and his delegation were seen off by Qatar\u2019s Minister of Transport Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti at the Doha airport. Prior to his departure, the prime minister took to Twitter indicating the conclusion of his \u201cimportant trip\u201d.
\nHe thanked the Amir of Qatar, the government and people of the country for the warm welcome and \u201cexcellent\u201d hospitality. Explaining the two \u201cnoteworthy\u201d aspects of his visit, Shehbaz Sharif said firstly Pakistan and Qatar had a clear vision of the future which offered new opportunities and avenues in a swiftly changing world.
\nSecondly, he said there was a greater awareness between the two countries of the need for upgrading the bilateral relations by making economic cooperation the pivot of bilateral ties.
\nDuring the visit, the prime minister met the Amir of Qatar, the Qatari prime minister, Chief Executive Officer of Qatar Investment Authority and a delegation of Qatar Business Association.
\nOwing to the prime minister\u2019s successful interactions with Amir, other leadership and business heads, the Qatar Investment Authority is planning to invest $3 billion in different sectors of Pakistan.
\nDuring the meetings with Amir and the Qatari prime minister, both the countries agreed to increase institutional coordination besides enhancing cooperation in agriculture, food and energy sectors. The two leaderships also agreed to encourage Qatar\u2019s investment in the fields of renewable energy, tourism and hospitality sectors.
\nThe prime minister addressed a Pakistan-Qatar Trade and Investment Roundtable Conference attended by top Qatari business and corporate heads as well as Pakistan\u2019s business community in Qatar.
\nHe also visited FIFA World Cup Stadium 974 where he appreciated the sports facilities as well as the unique building design, expressing good wishes for the Qatari leadership and people for hosting the mega sports event.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
