KP govt will try to complete the rehabilitation process within one year: Mahmood Khan

\nKhyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mehmood Khan on Tuesday undertook a day-long visit to the flood-affected Nowshera and Charsadda districts to inspect ongoing relief and rehabilitation activities.
\nCM Mahmood Khan also visited relief camps established for the flood-hit people and met with families residing in them.
\nKP government top priority at this stage was to give maximum facilitation to those families residing in different relief camps, he added.
\nSpeaking to media persons , Mahmood Khan claimed that all government machinery has been engaged on the ground to mitigate the problems of people in two districts, adding that those who have suffered due to devastated floods and rains would be provided all possible relief in the camps.
\nSpeaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that due to the flood, the houses were destroyed, standing crops were washed away and forced a large number of families to evacuate, adding that the provincial government\u2019s top priority at this time is to rehabilitate damaged houses, roads and provide relief to those living outside their areas.
\nCM Mahmood Khan accused the federal government for playing politics over certain issues even in testing times for humanity, adding that the PTI chairman stood firm by the people displaced due to flash floods in the province.
\nHe said that the provincial government was efficiently working to carry out estimates of damaged houses, roads, bridges and crops and very soon a process of compensation would be started in all flood-hit districts.
\n\u201cWe are public representatives and will serve them by living among the people. Due to the good governance policy of the provincial government, the establishment of Rescue 1122 and the construction of flood protection walls, the losses from the recent floods have been reduced,\u201d he added.
\nThe Chief Minister directed the concerned authorities to immediately provide generator facilities in the medical relief camps and said that providing all the facilities and relief to the victims was the primary goal of the provincial government.
\nHe said that the provincial government has already released funds worth Rs 1 billion for relief related activities, while additional Rs2.5 billion would be provided to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) for further accelerating the rehabilitation measures in the province.
\nDuring his visit, Chief Minister KP was briefed by the senior officials of the Irrigation department and the district administrations regarding the flood damage and relief activities.
\nOfficials informed that precautionary measures taken by the provincial government in the unprecedented flash floods at different areas save lives and other valuables from devastation.
\nThe officials informed CM Mahmood Khan about the assessment of houses, crops and other damage .
\nOfficials while briefing the Chief Minister at the medical relief camp established in Amangarh Nowshera said that all the facilities have been made available in the camp.
\nTwo medical officers male and female along with staff are present round the clock in the medical relief camp.
\nTo a question, CM Mahmood Khan said that the provincial government has initially planned to give top priority to provide instant relief to people residing in different camps of the province, adding that rehabilitation and resettlement of the victims will be started in the second phase.
\nThe government will try to complete the rehabilitation process within one year, the resources required for this purpose will be provided on a priority basis, he added.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
