Request for adjournment of cases against PTI Chairman and CM Mahmood Khan till Sept, 15 approved by ECP
\nPESHAWAR
\nPakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman and former Prime Minister Imran Khan\u2019s counsel on Saturday sought one week time from the Election Commission Pakistan (ECP) to respond to a notice received for allegedly violating code of conduct issued for the upcoming by-elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
\nThe District Monitoring Officer (DMO) accepted the request of the PTI Chairman, said a press release issued by ECP here on Saturday.
\nThe ECP through DMO for NA-31 Peshawar-V Shahbuddin had issued a notice to PTI Chairman Imran for allegedly violating code of conduct by addressing a scheduled public rally in Peshawar on September 6 despite warning.
\nQazi Irshad advocate appeared on behalf of Chairman PTI Imran Khan and requested time till September, 15 for submission of written reply.
\n\u201cThe learned consuls for the respondent appeared before the undersigned today on 09.09.2022 and requested for adjournment of case till 15.09.2022 for submission of written reply due to their engagement in August Supreme Court of Pakistan 14.09.2022,\u201d the consul stated.
\nSeparately, the ECP had also served notices to KP CM Mahmood Khan, provincial ministers and advisors to CM for attending Peshawar\u2019s public meeting.
\nThe CM-KP Mahmood Khan and its cabinet ministers and advisors including Kamran Bangash, Ishtiaq Urmar, Khaleeq Ur Rehman, Taimoor Saleem Jhagra, Shaukat Ali Yousifzai, Anwar Zaib Khan and Iqbal Wazir also requested for adjournment of case till Sept, 15 through their consul Ali Gohar Durrani which was also accepted by DMO.
\nAccording to ECP office order a copy of which is available with Lead Pakistan said \u201cForegoing in view, the request for adjournment is granted and the case is hereby fixed for next data of hearing on 15.09.2022\u201d.
\nIt is pertinent to mention here that a day before PTI Chairman Imran Khan\u2019s Peshawar public meeting, the DMO had directed the provincial government cabinet members, governor, advisors and CM not to attend the rally as it would be a violation of the by-election code of conduct.
\nThey had been warned by the concerned constituency DMO that legal action would be taken against them if election code was violated.
\nIt is to note here that the ECP has suspended the by-election, scheduled to be held on September,25, across the country due to ongoing relief and rehabilitation operations for flood-hit families.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
