\nIsraeli forces crossed into Syria on Monday and fired at four individuals who had \u201churled objects along the border fence\u201d, wounding one of them, the army said.
\nIsrael, which regularly carries out air strikes inside Syria\u2019s territory, rarely publicly acknowledges cross-border operations.
\nAccording to an Israeli army statement, \u201cobservation soldiers spotted four suspects\u201d near Haspin in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, without providing any specific information on what they were throwing.
\nIsrael Defense Forces \u201csoldiers were dispatched to the scene, crossed the border and operated… by firing at one of the suspects\u2019 legs,\u201d the statement added.
\nThe wounded suspect, whose condition wasn\u2019t immediately clear, was \u201cevacuated by helicopter to a hospital\u201d in Israel, the army said without mentioning what happened to the other three.
\nIsrael rarely comments on its military actions in Syria, save for operations in direct response to what the army considers immediate threats to Israel\u2019s sovereignty.
\nBut Israel has acknowledged carrying out hundreds of air strikes in Syria, targeting both government positions and Iran-backed forces, since the civil war broke out in the country in 2011.
