\nThe government line departments, semi- government institutions and private welfare organizations played key roles in relief and rehabilitation operations in the recent flash floods across the province.
\nKhyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Secretary Dr Shehzad Khan Bangash said this while presiding over a meeting to review the outreach initiatives of Al-Khidmat Foundation in the flood-affected areas.
\n The meeting was attended by Secretary Social Welfare, Commissioner Peshawar, Director General Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), Deputy Commissioner Peshawar and Al Khidmat Foundation representatives.
\n The forum was briefed on the services of Al-Khidmat Foundation in the flood-affected areas.
\n On this occasion, CS-KP Dr Shahzad Khan Bangash appreciated the services of all district administrations, government and semi-government institutions including private welfare organizations.
\n\u201cWhenever the province is faced with natural calamity, all district administrations, related institutions and private organizations have actively participated in relief and rehabilitation operations,\u201d he maintained.
\nHe said that all the private organizations were working alongside the government departments to serve the flood-affected people in different districts.
\nOn this occasion, the president of Al-Khidmat Foundation while giving a briefing said that the volunteers of the foundation were busy in delivering food items, tents, tarpaulins, medicines, blankets and clothes to people affected by flash floods in different areas.
\nThe vice president of Al-Khidmat Foundation said that during the flood, Al-Khidmat volunteers rescued 6,85 people, similarly, 1,156 cooked pots of food were distributed among the affected people, while 1,173 tarpaulins and 1,192 tents were also temporarily released.
\nThe General Secretary Al-Khidmat Foundation said that apart from distributing cash money to 2,640 people, 2,93,760 pieces of clothes and shoes were also given to the victims.
\n Similarly, mosquito nets, medicines for children and essential items for women were also distributed.
\nThe meeting also held detailed discussions regarding the rehabilitation of drug addicts.
\nHe said that 1,126 people have recovered and left the rehabilitation centers while currently 606 people are in the rehabilitation centers.
\nDr Shehzad Khan Bangash lauded the performance of Social Welfare department KP, Commissioner Peshawar and his team, Rescue 1122 and Al-Khidmat Foundation, Edhi Foundation and other private organizations who provided services in flood-affected areas.
