\nEngland\u2019s hard hitting batsman Jos Buttler, who spent England\u2019s recent tour to Pakistan throwing balls and carrying drinks, believes \u201cmanaging risk is a big part of T20I batting.\u201d
\n\u201cI\u2019ve had confidence in my game for a while now,\u201d Buttler told ESPNcricinfo. \u201cI feel like I have good experience and a good understanding of the T20 game.\u201d Earlier this year he produced one of the greatest-ever IPL seasons, scoring 863 runs including a record-equalling four centuries, and his career record now compares favourably with the format\u2019s all-time greats.
\n\u201cIt\u2019s changed because of where I\u2019ve batted,\u201d he says. \u201cWhen you\u2019re opening the batting, you don\u2019t need to take as big risks to get the same reward. Obviously in the powerplay, there\u2019s only two fielders outside the 30-yard circle so the bowlers\u2019 hands are tied in that sense and if you beat the infield, there\u2019s nobody on the boundary to stop it.
\n\u201cYou don\u2019t have to take such big risks in the powerplay to be able to score at a certain rate. It\u2019s one really good thing for my game that I\u2019ve spent a long time in the middle order and now a reasonable chunk at the top of the order as well: I feel like I can try and marry the two areas of the game up and try and bat for a long time in a T20 game.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
