Giving weekly briefing to the media, FO Spokesman Asim Iftikhar said the European Union\u2019s (EU) high commissioner for disasters, in his meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on October 4, 2022, had announced 30 million Euros in aid for the flood-affected people of Pakistan.<\/p>\n
The spokesman said that Indian Home Minister Amit Shah\u2019s visit to the occupied Kashmir was an effort to hoodwink the world that \u2018all was well\u2019 in the held territory.<\/p>\n
He regretted that Muslims in India continued to face persecution at the hands of ruling BJP goons and other Hindu extremists. \u201cIncidents of torture of Muslim men and boys took place in several parts of the neighbouring country on the pretext that they tried to disrupt this year\u2019s Navaratri festival,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
The spokesman informed that the Indian Charge de Affairs was summoned to
\nthe FO to convey Pakistan\u2019s concern over the deteriorating health of
\nHurriyat leader Altaf Ahmad Shah. \u201cThe Indian forces have recently
\nmartyred eight more Kashmiris in Baramola, Shopyan and Pulwama,\u201d he
\nsaid, adding, \u201cAs many as 678 Kashmiris have been martyred in the held
\nvalley since August 2019.\u201d<\/p>\n
He went on to say that India was making deliberate efforts to damage the
\neconomy of the people of Kashmir by destroying their businesses and
\ndepriving them of jobs. \u201cIndia is looting the natural resources of the
\noccupied valley,\u201d he said, and added, \u201cThe solution to the Kashmir issue
\nlies in implementation on the United Nations Security Council (UNSC)
\nresolutions. We want that the people of Kashmir are given their right to
\nself-determination through a plebiscite.\u201d<\/p>\n
Reacting to reports that the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) have named
\ndifferent divisions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) as \u2018Wilayat\u2019, the FO
\nspokesman made it clear that anything against the constitution of
\nPakistan had no value.<\/p>\n
He said that the US ambassador\u2019s visit to Azad Jammu and Kashmir had
\ngreat significance. \u201cThe visit has highlighted the importance of Kashmir
\nissue,\u201d he opined.<\/p>\n
He said that Pakistan was facing floods due to the phenomenon of climate
\nchange. \u201cWe are awaiting the donor\u2019s conference so that the flood
\nvictims could be rehabilitated and the damaged roads and other
\ninfrastructure could be rebuilt,\u201d the FO spokesman concluded.<\/p>\n
The spokesman informed that Pakistan was appointing new honorary consul
\ngenerals in its embassies in different African countries under the
\n\u2018Engage Africa Policy\u2019. \u201cThe purpose of this move is to develop strong
