PESHAWAR
\nThe Young Doctor Association (YDA) has called off its strike in the provincial capital on the assurance given by secretary health that their demands will be fulfilled as early as possible after a proper consultation with the provincial government.
\nIt is pertinent to mention here that the YDA staged a protest demonstration outside the provincial assembly on Wednesday against the alleged corruption in the government-run hospitals of Peshawar and demanded strict action against those involved.
\nThe protest was intervened by the Peshawar city mayor Zubair Ali and assured them that their longstanding demands would be met, the association in the leadership mayor Peshawar later on held a special meeting with the secretary health.
\nIn a statement issued by the KP health department officials, said that the YDA representative held an important meeting in presence of Zubair Ali with secretary health.
\nIt added that secretary health assured the doctor community representatives that the provincial government would resolve all issues of the association and lawful demands would be presented to the government for solutions.<\/p>\n
The YDA was protesting in the provincial capital against alleged malpractices and corruption by the administration and paramedic staff working in major hospitals including at Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar.<\/p>\n
Earlier the day, addressing the protestors outside the provincial assembly, the president of the YDA KP chapter Dr Asfandyar Bhitani alleged the administration staff was involved in corruption of millions of rupees, adding that more than Rs 540 million corruptions have been identified by the report in purchasing various equipments for the different hospitals.<\/p>\n
The General Secretary of the association Dr Faheem while speaking on the occasion demanded actions against those involved in the corruption.<\/p>\n
Dr Faheem said a number of doctors associated with YDA in LRH and other major hospitals were terminated on charges of exposing corruption of administration and other staff but no action was taken against the elements causing millions of rupees cost to national exchequer.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
