\nPakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary General Asad Umar on Sunday alleged that a party worker\u2019s brother had been arrested in Islamabad after the capital police failed to extract the worker himself.
\nIn a tweet, the PTI leader criticised the law enforcement agencies in Islamabad for \u201cripping the law up to shreds\u201d claiming that the police arrested Mehtab Bukhari when they could not find his brother \u2013 a PTI worker \u2013 Murad Bukhari.
\n\u201cIs this the country\u2019s capital or a jungle?\u201d lamented Umar as he expressed faith that \u201call those doing illegal work will be brought to justice\u201d.
\nMeanwhile, a case has still not been registered against the capital police for its alleged use of excessive force against protestors.
\nSoon after the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) disqualified PTI chairman and former premier Imran Khan as it announced its verdict in the Toshakhana (gift depository) reference, a protest had broken out at the Faizabad Interchange.
\nPTI workers have since sought to register a complaint against police brutality during the protest at Rawalpindi\u2019s New Town police station.
\nThe injured PTI worker, Kamran Nazir had requested the complaint to be filed against Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah and IG Islamabad for allegedly ordering the protestor\u2019s torture.
\nThe complaint also implicated SP Nausherwan, DSP Sajjad Bukhari and SHO Amanullah and also sought a case to be filed under terrorism charges.
\nWhile the police issued an e-tag against the request indicating the complaint had been received, authorities have thus far failed to register the FIR.
\nAs per reports, police officials have thus far been unable to decide whether or not the case should be registered.
\nIt may be noted that as soon as the verdict was announced, PTI supporters and party workers had begun protesting the decision and workers present outside the ECP office shouted slogans in support of Imran Khan.
\nThe Islamabad police had reportedly detained firearms from a Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) policeman who was later reported to be the guard of PTI MNA Saleh. As the weapon was being recovered a shot was fired.
\nThe capital police claim the shot was fired by the K-P policeman and has arrested him.
\nThe police later also arrested MNA Saleh. Reports of the police physically assaulting the arrested PTI workers have also surfaced.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
