Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Saturday terminated the basic party membership of Faisal Vawda, days after a contentious press conference that was disowned by the party leadership.<\/p>\n
The Wednesday press conference, in which he said the party\u2019s march to Islamabad would be \u201cbloody\u201d, was panned by the party leadership and spurred the issuance of a show-cause notice.<\/p>\n
The termination, a letter of which was tweeted by PTI\u2019s official Twitter account today, comes after Vawda failed to \u201crespond to the notice within the stipulated timeline\u201d \u2014 that was given to him to clarify his stance.<\/p>\n
Vawda has yet to publicly comment on the matter.<\/p>\n
He was issued a show-cause notice and his party membership was suspended after his press conference \u2014 held that same day \u2014 was loaded with claims that were deemed to be \u201cagainst party policies and guidelines\u201d.<\/p>\n
In his media talk, he claimed that the establishment had \u201cno role in his [Arshad Sharif\u2019s] killing\u201d and that Sharif had no threats while staying in Pakistan.<\/p>\n
He had also stated that PTI\u2019s long march will be a \u201cbloody\u201d one with \u201cdeaths and funerals\u201d of innocent people due to a \u201cconspiracy\u201d.<\/p>\n
His allegations were met with great disapproval from PTI leaders, including PTI Sindh President Ali Haider Zaidi who tweeted that \u201cVawda tried to damage our long march\u201d.<\/p>\n
PTI leader Asad Umar had also declared in a tweet that Vawda\u2019s \u201cstatement does not represent party policy and views\u201d.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
