\nThe Employers\u2019 Federation of Pakistan(EFP) hosted its consecutive 9th Employer of the Year Award to acknowledge and recognize the best practices of the corporate sector. In which around 31 organizations from multiple sectors were awarded for their exceptional performances and responsible business practices in areas of Human Resource Management, Skill Development, Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Laws Compliance, Corporate Social Responsibilities, Inclusivity, Women Empowerment, and Sustainable Development Goals.
\nSajid Hussain Turi, Federal Minister of Overseas Pakistani & Human Resource Department, graced the ceremony as the Chief Guest, and distributed the awards to the winning companies. Addressing the participants, the Federal Minister highlighted the importance and role of the private sector in promoting best business practices and supporting the vulnerable sector of society.
\nFederal Minister said that it is encouraging to know that EFP is actively engaged in promoting best business practices to achieve the goal of decent work for all and a sustainable development agenda for 2030. He urged the private sector and the employers\u2019 community for their support and contribution to the flood-affected people who at present are in the dire need of support for their rehabilitation and earning their livelihood.
\nThe Federal Minister assured his support and that the Federal Government would go the extra mile to be of assistance to the private sector and EFP in creating a culture of compliance and promoting business in Pakistan.
\nEarlier, Ismail Suttar, President EFP, in his welcome remarks shared his delight and congratulated the participating companies for demonstrating high standards in their operations and lifting the industry-wide practices to global par. He emphasized how it is essential for our industry to comply with international standards to be able to compete in the global market.
\nSuttar highlighted the importance of industrialization and that the development of the local industry is the only solution to address the challenges of creating employment, reducing poverty, and achieving sustainable development. He also stressed the need for local industry to comply with local legislation and international standards to remain competitive in the global market.
\nManzoor Khaliq, Officer in Charge, International Labour Organization(ILO) in Islamabad, appreciated the efforts of the EFP in promoting business and culture of compliance in Pakistan and said the ILO and EFP jointly are implementing several programs and initiatives for achieving the goal of decent work, implementation of international labor standards, and protection of workers. ILO and EFP have also planned to initiate a project on Skill Passport that will provide an opportunity to formalize the skills of informal workers. He was happy that EFP is also initiating other awards to recognize and acknowledge the contribution of the private sector in the skills development of the workforce which is crucial for productivity, enterprise competitiveness, and sustainable development.
\nZaki Ahmed Khan, Vice President EFP, in his capacity as the Chairman of the Evaluation Committee, briefed the participants about the award credentials by EFP and how it is considered to hold international standards in several areas of Corporate and General Management.
\nZaki informed that a committee of five professional experts scrutinized all the entries and selected 31 enterprises representing multinational, large and medium national, and SMEs. The Committee independently selected the winning companies on pure merit and is also available to respond to the queries of any contestants.
\nThe Awards also included the CEO of the Year Award which was given to the CEOs of the companies that have secured the highest score in all the categories. The CEO of the Year Award was given to Faheem Haider, Managing Director of Mari Petroleum Company Limited, and Shahid Mehmood Khan, Managing Director, Pak-Arab Refinery Limited.
\nIn Multinational Category Winners, 1st Prize Nestle Pakistan Limited; 2nd Prize J&P Coats Pakistan Limited; 3rd Prize Dubai Islamic Bank Limited. In Large National Category Winners, 1st Prize Mari Petroleum Company Limited & Pak-Arab Refinery Limited; 2nd Prize Meezan Bank Limited; 3rd Prize K-Electric Pvt. Limited. In Medium National Category, 1st Prize International Steels Limited; 2nd Prize Attock Refinery Limited; 3rd Prize Agriauto Industries Limited.
