Political leaders across parties, journalists one voice in condemning Swati, wife incident

\nPTI Senator Azam Swati\u2019s press conference where he broke down while claiming his wife was sent a private video of her and him from an unknown number, was met with widespread shock and outrage on Saturday.
\nDuring the presser, he revealed that his daughter kept weeping on the other side of the phone and said, \u201cDaddy, this video isn\u2019t of anyone else.. it is yours and my mother\u2019s\u201d.
\nFormer finance minister Miftah Ismail, from PTI\u2019s arch rival party the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), stated that he had never felt the urge to retweet PTI chief Imran Khan but \u201chad to agree\u201d that the video of Swati\u2019s spouse was \u201cbeyond the pale\u201d.
\n\u201cI feel ashamed that an honourable woman can be so humiliated in my country. This madness must stop,\u201d he wrote on his official Twitter handle.
\nJamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Siraj-ul-Haq said that the \u201cworst treatment meted out to Senator Azam Swati was extremely shameful\u201d, adding that his press conference was \u201cheartbreaking\u201d.
\nHe urged the Senate chair to \u201cform a parliamentary committee to investigate the matter immediately\u201d and urged the chief justice of Pakistan to take suo motu notice of the events.
\n\u201cReveal the truth before the nation and punish the culprit severely,\u201d he said.
\nSenior journalist Hamid Mir stated that all the parties in the Senate should form a joint parliamentary inquiry committee on Swati\u2019s complaint and advised them to \u201cnot wait for the Supreme Court\u201d.
\n\u201cThis committee should submit its report to the House within two weeks,\u201d he said.
\nPTI leader Fawad Chaudhry stated that the incident marked \u201canother sad day\u201d in the history of Pakistan and asked what was wrong with people.
\n\u201cNo sane mind will choose to go this path with political opposition\u2026 sad very sad,\u201d the former minister said.
\nHe further claimed that it was \u201cas if the guesthouses of the Supreme Court are covered with hidden cameras\u201d.
\n\u201cPrivate videos have been recorded from the Prime Minister\u2019s Office to the judges of the Supreme Court,\u201d he said, deeming it a tragic situation.
