ISLAMABAD
\nThe deadlock between federal civil servants and the government persisted as they, under the banner of All Government Employees Grand Alliance (AGEGA) had announced to hold a sit-in in front of the Parliament House from tomorrow for an indefinite period.
\nThe protesting public servants from across the country have been demanding the government to increase the salaries of the employees on the basis of the Pay and Pension Commission\u2019s recommendations and 150 percent executive allowance.
\nThey are also calling the government for a 100 percent increase in house rent, and medical and conveyance allowances. They are also demanding the upgradation of federal government employees on the pattern of provincial government employees as per the February 11, 2021 government agreement and recommendations of the Establishment Division.
\nAGEGA chief coordinator Rahman Bajwa said that they would continue their protest till the fulfilment of their demands. \u201cOur protest is apolitical and will remain non-political,\u201d he said. He lamented that despite the assurance of the federal government, their demands could not be approved.
\n\u201cThere will be no compromise over the rights of employees. If the government accepts their demands, they will change the sit-in into a day of thanksgiving,\u201d he added.
\nHe said that employees from all four provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Kashmir will participate in the sit-in.
\n\u201cAll government employees and associations of the federation will participate in the sit-in. Sixteen thousand engineers will also participate in the sit-in with logistical support,\u201d he hinted.
