GHA warns first strike from November 26 which would continue till their demands are not met effectively
\n PESHAWAR
\nKhyber-Pakhtunkhwa Grand Health Alliance (GHA) has given a call for a strike from November 16 against the conversion of 58 public sector hospitals to public private partnership by the provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
\nThe alliance announced that except emergency services, no other service will be provided for an infinite time.
\nThe announcement was made on Thursday in the cabinet meeting of the alliance which was attended by Patron-in-Chief Dr Musa Kaleem, Chairman GHA Dr Ameer Taj, Co-Chairman Dr Ayaz Sahib, President Syed Ruidar Shah, General Secretary Qazi Naeem, Senior Vice President Luqman Gul.
\nChairman Provincial Doctor Association (PDA) Dr Zubair, President Young Doctor Association (YDA) and president of Class-V association also attended the meeting.
\nThe forum criticized the provincial government for taking discriminatory actions against the nursing staff in Lady Reading Hospital (LRH)and resolved to support the lawful demands of the nursing community.
\nAccording to a statement issued by the spokesperson of the GHA Nasir Ali Shah that the meeting has decided that if the provincial government did not meet their demands all hospitals in the province will be closed and a peaceful protest will be started in front of LRH which will be continued till their demands were not met effectively.
\nIn the second phase, he added, from Friday Saturday (November 25) all the members would gather outside the LRH hospital for protest which would be continued till the provincial government met their demands effectively.
\nHe said all service including emergency service will be remaining shut during the protest, he warned.
\n\u201cIf the demands are not met then from November 25 emergency services will be closed down in all hospitals of the province,\u201d he added.
\nMr Nasir Ali Shah maintained that the meeting has also decided to extend its support for the rights of LRH nursing staff who have been terminated by the health department after staging protests in Peshawar.
\nThe provincial government should withdraw terminations orders of staff nurses in LRH as early as possible or GHA would also stage protests in their support, he added.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
