\nWith one new death on Friday, the number of fatalities due to dengue fever reached 18 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as Peshawar, the provincial capital, continued to record more deaths and confirmed cases of the mosquito borne fever.
\nKP recorded 18 deaths so far due to the fever amid reports that many people didn\u2019t bring their patients to hospitals and preferred to let them stay in homes.
\nThe provincial health department is still uncertain about the total number of patients in the province suffering from dengue fever.
\nAccording to KP health department latest report, a total of 136 new persons infected due to dengue during the last 24 hours, making the province-wide tally till date 20940 with Peshawar recording 84 fresh cases. Peshawar has now had a total of 8833 dengue cases so far this year, the highest in the province.
\nThe deceased was a resident of Peshawar, the worst hit district in the province by the mosquito borne diseases so far this year.
\nWith the latest casualty, the death toll in KP from dengue fever has risen to18, said by the provincial health department daily surveillance report.
\nThe report added that 136 new dengue fever cases were reported in the province during the last 24 hours which show a slight decrease in the cases during the last week.
\nDuring the same period of time in the province six more dengue patients were admitted to different hospitals of the province and the number of currently admitted patients reached 45 in the province.
\nThe official statistics revealed that during the last 24 hours the highest number of 84 fresh cases of dengue fever was reported in the provincial capital which is the worst hit district of KP.
\nSimilarly, 19 cases of dengue reported from district Bannu, 16 each cases were reported from Mardan and Swabi.
\nThe residents of the provincial capital say that the fresh casualty emerged during the last 24 hours laid bare the performance of the district administration to control dengue fever.
