\nISLAMABAD : Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), leader, Zartaj Gul Akhwand, who defeated the powerful Leghari family to secure the National Assembly seat from Punjab\u2019s Dera Ghazi Khan, spoke about her victory, aims and party chief Imran Khan.<\/p>\n
She said during an interview with private media on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
The 34-year-old MNA-elect who had joined the PTI as a volunteer said \u201cI wanted to prove that women can work at par with male politicians.\u201d \u201cI entered politics to change the system,\u201d she asserted.<\/p>\n
Stating that she is \u201cneither a hypocrite nor a coward\u201d, Gul said, \u201cI will play my role in bringing change.\u201d<\/p>\n
The 34-year-old whose parents are from North Waziristan contested her first election in 2013 from her new home in DG Khan, but lost. However, during the July 25 polls, she won from NA-191 (DG Khan) with over 25,000 votes more than Sardar Awais Khan Leghari of the Pakistan Muslim League- N.<\/p>\n
Speaking about her victory, the PTI leader who ran a vigorous election campaign, said, \u201cMy speeches moved people to vote for me.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIt does not make a difference whether you are rich or poor, people succeed owing to their mentality,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n
Gul continued, \u201cI belong to the tribal areas which is why it is not in me to give up easily.\u201d<\/p>\n
The MNA-elect further claimed, \u201cPeople look at my passion and name their daughters after me.\u201d<\/p>\n
Responding to a question regarding PTI chief Imran Khan, Gul said, \u201cImran Khan\u2019s critics don\u2019t know him.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cImran is a far-sighted leader who neither bows nor is bought,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n
The 34-year-old also said, “Imran told me the first day I met him that I am brave and will go far in life.”<\/p>\n
Further, Gul stated that she does not need any protocol and vowed, \u201cI will drive myself to survey every nook and corner of DG Khan.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
