PTI distances itself from issue: Imran

\nPakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan said that they have pulled back from the issue of appointment of the new army chief and the government has a free hand to do what it wants.
\nWhile talking to senior journalists in Lahore on Wednesday, he accused PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif of seeking the appointment of an army chief who would protect his interests. He added that no chief of army staff goes against the interest of the people. \u201cWe have stepped back from the issue, and now it is up to the government to do what it wants.\u201d Regarding the recent gift-selling scandal, Imran said that fake news regarding the issue was propagated in the media while he had evidence of selling Toshakhana watch in Islamabad.
\nThe former prime minister claimed they were being approached for negotiations. However, he added, they have refused to talk until the date for elections was given as there lies a solution to all crises.
\nHe said that his statement regarding relations with the US was misinterpreted. He reiterated always prioritizing Pakistan\u2019s interest over anything. Imran said that the US was behind the toppling of his government, but they would want to keep good relations with them in the national interest.
\nMeanwhile, addressing the participants of the long march in Jhelum, Sargodha, Mardan and other cities via video link, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan on Wednesday said the Army Chief\u2019s appointment should be made on meritocracy.
\nThe former premier said that he wants to tell the nation the motive behind staging his \u2018actual freedom\u2019 march, saying that he wants to tell the masses that the rulers \u2013 to whom he labeled thieves \u2013 have been imposed through the conspiracy and it is not acceptable for his party to back the elements of injustice and violence.
\nHe added \u201cOne of the purposes of staging the march is to tell his supporters that Shehbaz Sharif and his son \u2013 Hamza Shehbaz \u2013 were about to convict in the case of Rs16billion at the time of the conspiracy. But the rulers waived their cases of Rs1100billion by passing the law in the National Assembly.\u201d
\nReiterating that the rule of law and justice would not be possible if the rulers keep on giving NRO to themselves and this will lead to the prevailing of the \u2018law of the jungle\u2019 in the country, Imran added that contrary, if anyone of the citizens of any highly developed country would involve in plundering, there is no choice of that person to get NRO.
\nThe PTI chief once again urged the Chief Justice of Pakistan to deliver justice over the matter of renowned journalist Arshad Sharif\u2019s assassination, saying that the entire nation is looking at the Chief Justice to deliver justice. Imran added that if he will not get justice, then the common person could not even think of justice.
\nRecalling that there is no scarcity in the country\u2019s resources, the PTI chairman said that the thing which made the country drag backward is the non-existence of rule and law.
\nUrging his supporters to get ready for heading to Rawalpindi, Imran said that he would further reveal his plan over heading towards Rawalpindi within two days, vowing to not do any sort of violation, while staging the PTI\u2019s protest \u2013 in a peaceful manner.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
