\nEnglish football club Manchester United is considering sacking its star forward Cristiano Ronaldo, after drift between Portuguese star and the club management deepened.
\nAccording to media reports, United are furious with Ronaldo following his extensive interview with Piers Morgan this week in which the 37-year-old hit out at Erik ten Hag, the Glazer family and the attitude of the club\u2019s younger players.
\nRonaldo was suspended by United last month after his refusal to come on as a substitute in the 2-0 win over Tottenham at Old Trafford, but was allowed to return to the squad by Ten Hag.
\nAccording to MailOnline, United\u2019s lawyers believe Ronaldo\u2019s actions are enough to consider it a breach of his contract, which is worth in excess of \u00a3500,000 a week and still has seven months left to run.
\nShould United successfully terminate Ronaldo\u2019s deal without paying compensation, it would save the club in the region of \u00a316 million.
\nMeanwhile, The Guardian report that Ronaldo has already been told by United to not return to the club\u2019s training ground after the end of Portugal\u2019s World Cup campaign in Qatar.
\nIt\u2019s understood that Ten Hag has made it clear to United\u2019s hierarchy that Ronaldo should never play for the club again.
\nRonaldo, meanwhile, is currently with Portugal\u2019s national team ahead of the start of their World Cup campaign in Qatar, which begins against Ghana next Thursday. Portugal will also play Uruguay and South Korea in Group H.
\nAfter the second part of Ronaldo\u2019s extensive interview was broadcast on Thursday evening, United issued a statement on Friday which read: \u2018Manchester United has this morning initiated appropriate steps in response to Cristiano Ronaldo \u2019s recent media interview.
\n\u2018We will not be making further comment until this process reaches its conclusion.\u2019
\nSpeaking about his relationship with Ten Hag, Ronaldo said: \u2018I don\u2019t have respect for him because he doesn\u2019t show respect for me.
\n\u2018If you don\u2019t have respect for me, I\u2019m never gonna have respect for you.\u2019
\nRonaldo also accused United of failing to improve behind the scenes since Sir Alex Ferguson\u2019s departure in 2013 and blasted the club\u2019s decision to appoint Ralf Rangnick as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer\u2019s temporary replacement last season.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
