In jibe at Imran, Bilawal says institution\u2019s apoliticism irked \u2018puppet\u2019 politicians

\nIn an apparent jibe at PTI Chairman Imran Khan, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari said Wednesday institution\u2019s apolitical stance has got \u201cpuppet\u201d politicians worrying about their future.
\n\u201cThe institution has accepted its mistake. But now, they [\u2018puppet politicians\u2019] are worried that if the institution has become neutral, then what will become of their politics,\u201d Bilawal told a charged crowd in Karachi during his address at a ceremony held to mark PPP\u2019s 55th foundation day.
\nThe PPP chairman\u2019s comments came after former army chief General (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa\u2019s interview, where he said that the army\u2019s decision to become \u201capolitical\u201d will help enhance its prestige in the long term.
\nBilawal, who also holds the portfolio of foreign minister, vowed to thwart anti-democratic forces and the party will continue fighting against the \u201cenemies\u201d of democracy.
\nThe PPP chairman said \u201cchaos\u201d was being spread in the country to save \u201cwatch thief\u201d Khan, his sister Aleema Khan, Farah Gogi \u2014 a close aide PTI chief\u2019s wife Bushra Bibi \u2014 from accountability.
\nBilawal said when the PTI was \u201cfaizyab\u201d, the party defeated PPP in its stronghold of Lyari and \u201cstole\u201d the mandate of the people.
\n\u2018Lying\u2019
\nBilawal said Wednesday that \u201ccoward\u201d PTI Chairman Khan\u2019s party lawmakers would not quit the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab assemblies.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf you want to resign, then go ahead. The PPP is ready to face you; PPP is not afraid of \u2018puppets\u2019 and \u2018selected actors\u2019,\u201d Bilawal said.<\/p>\n
Bilawal claimed that Khan was \u201clying\u201d when he said that his party\u2019s lawmakers would resign from both assemblies as he is notorious for going back on his word.<\/p>\n
\u201cDon\u2019t you remember\u201d, he told the crowd, \u201cthat after PTI resigned from the National Assembly and the by-polls were set to take place, they moved the courts and plead that their resignations were just a political stunt\u201d.<\/p>\n
The PTI chief \u2014 who called off his long march to Islamabad last week \u2014 announced quitting assemblies across the country as he could not be part of a \u201ccorrupt system\u201d anymore.<\/p>\n
Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Pervez Elahi has also backed Khan\u2019s call to quit the assembly and said that if the PTI chief asks him to dissolve the house, he would do so without waiting for a minute.<\/p>\n
However, the PML-N \u2014 along with the coalition parties \u2014 is mulling thwarting the move and the party\u2019s senior leaders have stressed that they would go to \u201cany length\u201d to keep it from dissolving.<\/p>\n
Taking a jibe at Khan for cutting his long march short, Bilawal said: \u201cHe fled from Pindi. The coward beat a hasty retreat just like he did at the time of no-confidence motion.\u201d<\/p>\n
Bilawal told Khan that if he decides to resign from the assemblies, then the PPP and its \u201cjiyalas\u201d were ready to face his party. \u201cWe\u2019re not afraid of you,\u201d he vowed.<\/p>\n
\u2018Jiyala\u2019 to be next mayor Karachi
\nAt the outset of his address, Bilawal thanked the people of Karachi for coming out in huge numbers as the party had decided to hold the founding day at different districts instead of a central one due to floods.<\/p>\n
Bilawal paid glaring tributes to his mother, former prime minister Benazir Bhutto and his maternal grandfather, ex-premier Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, for their services to the country.<\/p>\n
He added that a \u201cjiyala\u201d would be elected Karachi\u2019s mayor when the local body elections \u2014 scheduled to be held in January 2023 \u2014 take place.<\/p>\n
