\nPunjab Chief Minister (CM) Pervaiz Elahi has assured former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan of \u2018dissolving\u2019 the Punjab Assembly without any delay.
\nAccording to details, Punjab CM Pervaiz Elahi called on the former premier at his residence in Lahore\u2019s Zaman Park. Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q) leaders Moonis Elahi and Hussain Elahi were also present.
\nDuring the meeting, matters pertaining to political and administrative were discussed. The rules of procedure of the Punjab Assembly were also reviewed in the meeting. The participants also expressed their determination to fight \u2018every unconstitutional tactic\u2019 of the opposition.
\nSpeaking on the occasion, Imran Khan noted that he has summoned a meeting of Punjab Parliamentary Party tomorrow. \u201cA final consultation on the future of Punjab Assembly will be held in the meeting,\u201d he added. Khan also lambasted the incumbent government for \u2018destroying\u2019 the country\u2019s economy.
\nMeanwhile, Pervaiz Elahi assured that there would be no delay in dissolving the Punjab Assembly once PTI chairman gave the call. \u201cThe provincial assembly belonged to the former prime minister,\u201d he said, adding that they will support Imran\u2019s every decision.
\n\u201cWe fully support those we choose to ally ourselves with,\u201d the Punjab CM said, adding that those creating misunderstandings will fail as they did in the past. He also welcomed the opposition for tabling a no-confidence motion in the provincial assembly, saying: \u201cIt will fail like it did in the past.\u201d
\nPervaiz Elahi claimed that the opposition did not have the requisite numbers for passing the no-confidence motion. \u201cGovernor\u2019s rule can also not be imposed when the assembly is in session,\u201d he said, advising the opposition to go over the assembly\u2019s Rules of Business before speaking.
\nIt is pertinent to mention here that former prime minister Imran Khan had announced that his party would quit all the assemblies. \u201cWe will not be part of this country\u2019s political system. We have decided to quit all assemblies,\u201d the former premier said while addressing the party workers and supporters at Rawalpindi Jalsa.
\nImran Khan said that his party had decided not to go to Islamabad to avert any destruction or chaos. \u201cI would announce the date of resignations after consulting chief ministers and the parliamentary party,\u201d he announced.
\nEarlier, Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi on Thursday vowed to stand by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan. The Punjab CM was expressing his thoughts while meeting former federal minister Pervaiz Khattak at CM House and also discussed the matters about the Punjab Assembly and political situation.
\nHe also assured Mr Khattak that they would counter the opposition. CM Elahi lambasted the coalition government, saying that the inept rulers had been sorted out. \u201cThey just cause uproar of the no-confidence motion or governor\u2019s rule to please themselves.\u201d
\nEarlier, Former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry confirmed that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership agreed upon dissolving Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Punjab assemblies.
\nTalking to journalists at Zaman Park in Lahore, Fawad Chaudhry noted that the PTI leadership held a party leaders\u2019 meeting to decide upon quitting all assemblies to push the incumbent government for fresh elections.
\nHe said, \u201cThe party leadership agreed upon dissolving Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Punjab assemblies, while our members in Sindh and Balochistan assemblies will submit their resignations.\u201d
\nFawad Chaudhry further said that the government would be forced to hold elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) within 90 days as per the Constitution. \u201cThe opposition, in the provinces, will also be invited to put forward their names for caretaker government,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
