{"id":298833,"date":"2022-12-02T17:05:02","date_gmt":"2022-12-02T12:05:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/?p=298833"},"modified":"2022-12-02T17:05:02","modified_gmt":"2022-12-02T12:05:02","slug":"saudi-arabia-extends-term-for-3bn-deposit-in-sbp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/saudi-arabia-extends-term-for-3bn-deposit-in-sbp\/","title":{"rendered":"Saudi Arabia extends term for $3bn deposit in SBP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) announced on Friday that Saudi Arabia has extended its term for a $3 billion deposit in the central bank through the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) in support of the country\u2019s economy.<\/p>\n<p>According to a press release, the decision was an implementation of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud\u2019s royal directives.<\/p>\n<p>In November last year, the SBP had signed an agreement with the SFD to receive $3bn, which would be placed in the central bank\u2019s account with an aim to improve its foreign exchange reserves.<\/p>\n<p>The SBP\u2019s statement today added that the extension in the term \u201ccontributed to meet external sector challenges and achieve sustainable economic growth for the country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe extension of the term of the deposit is a continuation of the support provided by the Saudi Arabian government to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan,\u201d the statement concluded. \u201cThe deposit aimed to shore up the foreign currency reserves in the SBP and help Pakistan in facing the economic repercussions of the Covid-19 pandemic.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In September, the SFD had confirmed the rollover of a $3bn deposit for one more year.
