\nSupreme Court (SC) while rejecting the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) constituted by Islamabad Police in senior journalist Arshid Sharif murder case has ordered to constitute new Special JIT Comprising the representatives of ISI, Police, IB and FIA.
\nThe court has summoned the name of members of special JIT today.
\nThe Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial has remarked mother of Arshid Sharif has given names of several persons. Government should investigate it from all angles as per law.
\nJustice Jamal Mandokhail l remarked on what basis three persons have been nominated in the case. We will have to review if the case can be registered against foreigners or otherwise.
\nJustice Mazahir Naqvi remarked this is very serious matter and I am warning government should take it seriously. Court is not sitting here to hear you.
\nA five-member bench headed by Chief Justice Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial and comprising Justice Ijazul Ahsan, Justice Jamal Mandokhail, Justice Sayyed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi and Justice Mohammad Ali Mazhar heard a suo motu notice taken by the apex court regarding Mr Sharif\u2019s murder.
\nAt the inception of hearing the fact finding committee report regarding the ghastly murder of Arshid Sharif was presented in the court.
\nThe court while rejecting this report ordered to constitute new special JIT for investigation into murder case.
\nThe CJP remarked we want investigation should be got conducted by senior and independent officers. JIT members should be visionary and expert in bringing evidence from other countries. All the information should be shared with the family members of Arshid Sharif. It has to be ensured that the competent officers should work as per law.
\nThe journalist told the court during the hearing that the police did not behave well with the family members of Arshid Sharif.
\nThe CJP remarked we will see the police matter too. First of all we will hear the stance of mother of Arshid Sharif.
\nAdditional Attorney General (AAG) told the court the investigation team obtained information from Kenyan authority. Meeting was arranged with the three personnel who fired. The meeting could not be arranged with the 4th police personal as he was injured.
\nThe CJP remarked the real evidence of the ghastly murder are in Kenya. The matter will have to be taken up with Kenyan authority. The work of fact finding committee is appreciable.
\nAAG said police have constituted JIT.
\nJustice Mazahir Naqvi remarked even the name of the police personnel who opened firing were not written in the report. Why the case was not registered against the personnel who were involved in firing .
\nJustice Jamal Mandokhail inquired on what basis 3 people were nominated in the case.
\nThe CJP remarked mother of Arshid Sharif is mother of two martyrs. Her stance should be heard with patience.
\nMother of Arshid Sharif told the court the way Arshid Sharif was expelled from Pakistan is mentioned in the report. The way he was expelled from Dubai also is mentioned in the report. I want only justice for my son.
\nJustice Mazahir Naqvi remarked you will have to record your statement to JIT.
\nThe mother of Arshid Sharif said she has already recorded statement to investigation team.
\nThe CJP remarked it is criminal case, therefore, court did not constitute commission. The case begins from Khaurram and Waqar. We don\u2019t want such officer in JIT who is their subordinate of whose name are coming in the case.
\nJustice Ijaz ul Ahsan remarked if mother of Arshid Sharif wants to come on her own she can come.
\nThe counsel of wife of Arshid Sharif told the court copy of fact finding report be provided.
\nJustice Mazahir Naqvi remarked fact finding report is public.
