\nFour blasts hit province \u2014 two in Quetta, one in Kohlu and Turbat each \u2014 as country battles fresh wave of terrorism

\nAt least five soldiers of the Pakistan Army, including a captain, embraced martyrdom when an improvised explosive device (IED) exploded during a clearance operation in Kahan area of Balochistan, the military said in a statement on Sunday.
\n\u201cBased on credible intelligence, a clearance operation is underway in Kahan area of Balochistan since 24 Dec 2022. Today, an IED exploded close to the leading party,\u201d the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
\nResultantly, Captain Fahad along with four other brave sons of soil \u2014 Lance Naik Imtiaz, Sepoy Asghar, Sepoy Mehran and Sepoy Shamoon \u2014 embraced martyrdom, laying their lives in defence of the motherland against an externally perpetrated threat of terrorism, it added.
\n\u201cSuch cowardly acts by inimical elements cannot sabotage the hard-earned peace and prosperity in Balochistan,\u201d the ISPR said. \u201cThe security forces remain determined to challenge their nefarious designs, even at the cost of blood and lives.\u201d
\nISPR further said that a sanitisation operation was underway to apprehend the perpetrators.
\nEarlier in the day, a soldier was martyred and two others were injured during an exchange of fire with terrorists in Balochistan\u2019s Zhob, ISPR stated.
\nAccording to the military\u2019s media wing, \u201cbased on credible intelligence, an operation was launched in Sambaza area of Zhob, to stop terrorists from using few suspected routes to move across the Pakistan-Afghanistan border and to sneak into Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), along the interprovincial boundary and target citizens and security forces.\u201d
\nAs a result of continuous surveillance and sanitisation of the area, a group of terrorists was intercepted in the early hours today, the ISPR added.
\nThe press statement furthered that during \u201cthe establishment of blocking positions to deny them escape routes, terrorists opened fire onto the security forces\u201d.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
