{"id":30395,"date":"2018-08-29T18:01:11","date_gmt":"2018-08-29T08:01:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/?p=30395"},"modified":"2018-08-29T18:01:11","modified_gmt":"2018-08-29T08:01:11","slug":"plea-seeking-red-warrants-for-musharraf-rejected-by-interpol-interior-secretary-tells-court","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/plea-seeking-red-warrants-for-musharraf-rejected-by-interpol-interior-secretary-tells-court\/","title":{"rendered":"Plea seeking red warrants for Musharraf rejected by Interpol, interior secretary tells court"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Lahore  :  Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday resumed the hearing of the high treason case against former military ruler Pervez Musharraf.<\/p>\n<p>A two-member bench comprising of Justice Yawar Ali and Justice Mazhar Akbar heard the case in Islamabad which pertains to the imposition of extra-constitutional emergency in the country in 2007. <\/p>\n<p>During the hearing, interior secretary told court that interpol has rejected the application seeking red warrants for Musharraf. &#8220;Interpol says that such warrants are not issued in political cases,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSubmit the copy of the letter in court as we want to maintain transparency in the case. The court wants to finalize the case,\u201d remarked Justice Yawar.<\/p>\n<p>He inquired whether the federal government wants to withdraw case against the former president.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Prime Minister has the hold of interior ministry. No talks have yet been held over withdrawing the case. The new prosecutor will be appointed after consultation with law minister and attorney general,\u201d explained the interior secretary.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecution head Akram Sheikh maintained that the new government has to decide over initiating treason case against Musharraf.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe lawyers of Musharraf in the case are now in government. The interior ministry can decide better,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe court is not a part of prosecution and will not side by any party during the trial,\u201d remarked Justice Yawar.
