Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) has filed application with NEPRA for scaling down the power tariff by Rs 2.20 per unit under the head of fuel adjustment for the month of December. CPPA has taken plea in its application that more than 8.96 billion units electricity was generated in the month of December. The reference cost of the electricity was fixed Rs 9.03 per unit. On the other hand the production cost of the electricity remained Rs 7.11 per unit in December. Power tariff be reduced by Rs 2.20 per unit under the head of fuel adjustment. Relief amounting to Rs 17.81 billion will be provided to the consumers if the application is accepted by NEPA. This benefit will not be given to consumers of life line and K-Electric consumers.
