\nIn a rare occurrence, the first Pashto poetry competition was held here on Tuesday at a local hotel in Peshawar where poets from across the tribal district Khyber expressed their thoughts through their compelling poetry and advocated society for a unified resilience.
\nThe event \u201c The Candles of Peace & Unity in Khyber\u201d was organised by the tribal district administration Khyber in collaboration with Community Resilience activity \u2013 North ((CRA-N).
\nThe organisers maintained that the CRA-N in a joint venture with the district administration under a comprehensive exercise of poetry sessions across the tribal district Khyber acknowledged local poets and activated them as positive agents of resilience.
\n\u201cWe provided local poets with opportunities to come forward and utilise their poetry in shaping how people think about peace,\u201d said a senior official of the district administration.
\nIn the first phase, he added, the organization with the help of local literary societies organised poetry competitions in Bara, Jamrud and Landikotal tehsils of the tribal district Khyber.
\nThe first-of-its-kind event final round was hosted by notable poets of the pashto language as judges including Laiq Zada Laiq, Aseer Mangal, Jahanzeb Shaoor, and Prof Dr Yar Mahammad.
\nIn the final round held for the district Khyber, Khan Mohammad Hamraz and Mubeen Hasas secured second and third positions respectively, Mr Riaz Afridi, a local poet of the district Khyber clinched the first position.
\nOn this occasion, the above-mentioned well-known poets of the Pashto language honored the local poets with special awards and appreciated their role for peace and tolerance.
\nThe overall aim of the activities that took place at the different regions of the district is to activite and recognise the local poets to teach the local community through their poetry about resilience.
\nA large number of poets, media persons and officials of the district administration attended the event.
