\nPakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran khan said on Monday that the country would get the real independence and genuine democracy after the \u2018Jail Bharo\u2019 Movement, while mentioning this plan of action was a part of peaceful effort to steer the country out of crisis.
\nHe said due to the economy of the country in tatters, strikes were not being announced. The former premier said the assemblies of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were dissolved as per the constitution.
\nIn a video message, the former premier warned the government that he would kickstart Jail Bharo movement if elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are not held within 90 days. He regretted that ever since the \u2018imported\u2019 government had come to power, the constitution had been torn into bits and pieces.
\nImran Khan lambasted the incumbent government to \u2018flouting the Constitution and law, saying that people were being \u2018picked up and tortured\u2019 for \u2018speaking the truth\u2019 on social media. \u201cEven police were not following the court orders,\u201d he claimed, criticising the \u2018lawlessness\u2019 in the country.
\n \u201cWhich constitution would have allowed custodial torture of [Senator] Azam Swati over a tweet,\u201d the PTI chief added. He claimed that former interior minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed was \u2018picked up\u2019 despite being granted bail by the court. \u201cCases were registered in Sindh and Balochistan against the Awami Muslim League (AML) Chief,\u201d he added.
\nReferring to PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry\u2019s arrest, Imran Khan noted that the Lahore High Court (LHC) had asked Inspector-General (IG) of Police Punjab \u2018four times\u2019 to produce former information minister. However, he said, the police transferred the PTI leader to Islamabad despite the orders.
\nHe also cited \u2018torture\u2019 PTI workers during the May 25 long march, saying that the then opposition, during PTI\u2019s tenure, carried out sit-ins and long marchers but no action was taken against them.
\nHe also castigated the federal government for \u2018running away\u2019 from the local government (LG) elections in Islamabad, saying that despite the court orders, the \u2018imported government\u2019 hasn\u2019t given dates for the LG polls. It is pertinent to mention here that Imran Khan had announced the \u2018Jail Bharo\u2019 movement in the wake of arrests of several party leaders.
\nImran Khan said after the coming 90 days whoever stays in the government, article 6 will apply to them. The nation is expecting that the judiciary will stand by the constitution.
