PESHAWAR : Amun Taraqqi Party (ATP) chairman Muhammad Faiq lashed out at the incumbent coalition government over its announcement to unveil a \u2018mini-budget\u2019 with tune of new taxes Rs 170 Billion, saying that country\u2019s economy cannot put on right track from such step.<\/p>\n
Shah said the government is bringing a ‘tsunami of taxes’ through a mini-budget. <\/p>\n
He blamed the directionless policies of the present coalition government that has brought the country on brink of complete destruction.<\/p>\n
He made it clear that the country\u2019s economy cannot sustain the imposition of Rs170 billion new taxes<\/p>\n
The ATP chief called for the imposition of an economic emergency in the country.<\/p>\n
He furthermore emphasized that the government should implement its austerity plan with true spirit and to cut its kitchen cabinet lavishly expenditures.<\/p>\n
Price of electricity, gas, petroleum products will be further pushed up through this mini-budget that would directly affect the poverty-stricken masses of the country, says Shah while talking to reporters on the government’s economic recovery plan and initiatives to prevent Pakistan from default.<\/p>\n
Shah threw a weight behind the remarks of Supreme Court Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) and asked the government to take serious note over the observation of CJP with regard to speculations of the country\u2019s default. <\/p>\n
He elaborated in his remarks the honorable CJP Umar Ata Bandial while hearing case regarding imposition of super tax on income stated that Pakistan will never default and government should take stringent measures to stop smuggling of foreign currency to the tune of 40 million dollars on a daily basis to other countries<\/p>\n
Faiq welcomed the verdict of Lahore High Court, directing Election Commission Pakistan (ECP) to hold elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa within 90 days.<\/p>\n
He asked the government and ECP to fully comply with orders of the superior court and avoid creating any constitutional crisis in the country.<\/p>\n
The ATP chief said the political chaos has ruined the national economy.<\/p>\n
He, therefore, added confrontation and lock horn between government and opposition over holding of fresh polls is unaffordable for the country. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
