{"id":313621,"date":"2023-02-14T11:06:47","date_gmt":"2023-02-14T06:06:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/?p=313621"},"modified":"2023-02-14T11:06:47","modified_gmt":"2023-02-14T06:06:47","slug":"psl-8-begins-with-grand-opening-ceremony","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/psl-8-begins-with-grand-opening-ceremony\/","title":{"rendered":"PSL 8 begins with grand opening ceremony"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Lock and load<br \/>\nThe event was a visual treat for cricket fans worldwide, featuring spectacular performances by renowned artists and musicians<br \/>\n Islamabad<br \/>\nThe opening ceremony of the Pakistan Super League\u2019s (PSL) eighth edition was staged at the Multan Cricket Stadium Monday evening, lighting up the city of saints.<br \/>\nThe ceremony \u2014 which was attended by fans at the stadium and watched on TV screens from across the country \u2014 kicked off with a soulful rendition of the National Anthem by Aima Baig.<br \/>\nShe was followed on stage by HBL CEO Muhammad Aurangzeb, who addressed the jubilant crowd, thanking fans for their love and support.<br \/>\nPakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Committee\u2019s Chairman Najam Sethi then took the stage and vowed that the matches of the tournament would take place in Quetta and Peshawar as well next year.<br \/>\nAima Baig and Sahir Ali Bagga also mesmerised fans with their performance. After that the three lead singers of the official PSL 8 anthem delighted the crowd with their performance, gearing them up for the match which is due to begin at 8pm today.<br \/>\nThe ceremony was wrapped up with a spectacular display of fireworks.<br \/>\nNajam Sethi vowed that the board would ensure that PSL matches take place in Peshawar and Quetta next year.<br \/>\n\u201cThe PSL has given several assets to Pakistan. This has become an international brand that we can be proud of. This year [several] foreign and local players are debuting.\u201d<br \/>\nHe added that the tournament had given several stars to the national side, including Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf and Hasan Ali.<br \/>\n\u201cFull congratulations in advance to those who will win. Let the game begin,\u201d he added.<br \/>\nHBL CEO Muhammad Aurangzeb hoped that young players would perform well in the tournament.
