\nSpecial Assistant to Caretaker Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Zakat, Ushar, Social Welfare, Special Education and Women Development Salma Begum has said that the role of women in the society has always been important, saying women have made a name in every field.
\nShe said that the world is moving towards digitization and technology education and literacy have also become a reality to empower women economically and politically.
\nShe was addressing as chief guest in a special function organized by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Commission on Status of Women with the collaboration of Women Empowerment and Political Participation Project (WEPP) Cowater International, Government of Canada on International Women\u2019s Day in Peshawar.
\nAmong the other speakers Rubin Haider Bukhari, Secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Waqar Naswan Commission, Shabina Gulzar, Team Leader of Cowater International, Gender Advisor Zuhra Luqman, Fahad Khan of KPIT Board also spoke while DSP Traffic Peshawar Aneela Naz, Amna Durrani, Mahwesh Ayub, Nausheen Shafiq and Osama Khalji participated in the panel discussion.
\nSpecial Assistant Salma Begum said in her address that federal and provincial governments make laws and policies, but implementation of these policies is very important.
\nOnly by implementing policies and changing people\u2019s attitudes ,men and women could have equal opportunities for development.
\nTalking about the importance of technology, she said that it has become necessary to teach technology to the women of the present day which will create many opportunities for women to go ahead.
\nShe further said that the Department of Social Welfare is taking steps for the development and empowerment of women.
\nTo prevent gender violence, Bolo helpline has been started to which complaints can be registered by calling directly. She praised the Waqar Niswan Commission and Co-Water International, describing today\u2019s event as inspiring. Other speakers at the event said that digital literacy of women is the need of the hour.
\nIn the panel discussion, e-governance, women\u2019s online business, issuance of driving license, complaints, online FIR and various suggestions for solving women\u2019s problems and women\u2019s development came out.
