Pronouncing its verdict on Monday, the court also rejected the appeals of Zahir Jaffer\u2019s parents, and the appeals of the two co-accused Muhammad Iftikhar and Jan Muhammad. A two-member IHC divisional bench, comprising Chief Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan, announced the verdict which was reserved on December 21, 2022. The IHC reserved a verdict in the high-profile murder case in which the prime accused, Jaffer, was sentenced to death after a long-drawn-out trial of over four months. The trial court awarded a death sentence to Jaffer in February 2002, while Jan Muhammad and Muhammad Iftikhar \u2014 the gardener and security guard at Jaffer\u2019s house \u2014 were awarded 10 years of imprisonment each.  Earlier, a Sessions Court had sentenced convict Zahir Jaffar to death in the case. While announcing the verdict that was pronounced on Feb 24, Additional Sessions Judge Ata Rabbani also found Zahir guilty of rape under Section 376 and handed him 25 years of imprisonment along with Rs200,000 fine, and 10 years in jail and a fine of Rs100,000 for kidnapping Noor to murder her. On the other hand, the court also ordered the convict to pay Rs0.5 million to Noor\u2019s family. The sessions court had also sentenced co-accused Jameel and Jan Muhammad to ten years each in jail.
