\nEducation Cannot Wait (ECW), a United Nations (UN) global fund for education, would assist the provincial department for education for its upcoming enrollment campaign to raise the education standard in the province through a multi-year resilience programme and other initiatives.
\nAccording to a statement, the ECW would work through the multilateral system to both increase the speed of responses in crises and connect immediate relief and longer-term interventions through multi-year programming.
\nA delegation of ECW including the chief humanitarian liaison Maarten Barends, emergency manager Robert Edward Dutton, gender manager Jihane Latrous and coordinator ECW, Ehsaan Ullah visited Participatory Rural Development Society (PRDS) office at Peshawar, where they met the representative officials of UNICEF, Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO), PRDS, SRSP and other Consortium partners of MYRP in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
\nDuring the meeting the consortium partners of MYRP discussed the progress against the set indicators, impeding factors in education and challenges being faced by the children, particularly girls.
\nThe meeting discussed the joint efforts for improving access and quality of Education in the province.
\nThe needs for provision of necessary facilities to government schools, upcoming enrolment drive and the educational goals were specifically discussed and suggestions were also presented.
\nOn the occasion, the Executive Director of PRDS, Syed Ali Shah and the provincial head of MYRP briefed the delegation on different initiatives, they made in the government schools and informed that under the ECW fund program, 24 ECE centers and 36 Catch up learning centers have been established in Peshawar, Nowshera and Charsadda, where apart from providing free quality education to the children, they have also been provided with the conducive environment.
\nHe said that this year the PRDS team and local volunteers will fully participate in the enrollment campaign to make it a true success. The executive director further briefed that the training on disaster risk management, life skills, code of conduct for schools and inclusive education have also been completed.
\nThe participants were told that ECW works in close partnership with governments, public and private donors, UN agencies, civil society organizations, and other humanitarian and development aid actors to increase efficiencies and end siloed responses.
\nThey added that the Multi-Year Resilience Programme is a global model flagship program to sustainably improve access to inclusive and equitable quality education for crisis affected, refugee and other vulnerable children and adolescents across the north and west of the country.
\nThe delegation from global education fund ECW assured that they will continue their assistance to the education department and consortium partners of MYRP by utilizing all available resources for improving standards and quality of education in the KP.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
