\nAn important meeting held here on Wednesday with Advisor to caretaker Chief Minister on Health Dr Abid Jameel in the chair, reviewed progress made so far on health reforms and primary health care revamping program in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
\nThe meeting was briefed on primary health care revamping projects and health reforms in the health sector.
\nChief HSRU Dr Shaheen Afridi, Project Director Dr Ikramullah Khan, Additional DGs, all District Health Officers (DHOs) and other stakeholders attended the meeting.
\nThe forum was informed that 1150 Basic Health Centers (BHCs) have been built in the tribal districts due to political influence.
\nIt was said that currently there are 766 in the settled districts of the province.
\nThe chairs also apprised about the medical assistance provided by the health facilities to earth-quack victims in the province.
\nAdvisor on Health said that treatment and medicines for non-communicable diseases should be given free for families registered under the Benazir Income Support Program.
\nHe also expressed his displeasure over the lack or non-supply of essential medicines to district health care units.
\nThe quarter concerned was directed to ensure and improve the provision of basic health facilities in the remote areas of the province including the former tribal districts.
\nThe forum was informed by the Director General Drugs Dr Abbas that the Drug Directorate has so far completed the analysis of more than 10000 medicines of MCC Medicine.
\nThe Health Advisor issued instructions that the DHOs should take other departmental action including salaries cut on doctors and other medical staff for absenteeism.
\nSecretary health department Atta-ur-Rehman on this occasion directed DHOs to take necessary steps for elimination of dengue larvae and control breeding of dengue mosquitoes in the hotspot districts.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
