\nAlgerian boxer Imane Khelif has been excluded from the women\u2019s world championships after being told she had \u201ccharacteristics that mean I can\u2019t box with women\u201d, she said Saturday.
\nThe International Boxing Association confirmed that she had been excluded from the tournament in New Delhi \u201cdue to the failure to meet the IBA eligibility criteria\u201d.
\nIn an email to AFP, it declined to say what rule she had breached, citing athletes\u2019 \u201cpersonal and medical privacy\u201d.
\nAlgerian media reported the 23-year-old had failed a hormone test, returning an elevated testosterone level.
\nIn a video posted online, Khelif said she had been told she would have an unfair advantage over other women, but claimed she was the victim of a \u201cbig conspiracy\u201d.
\n\u201cPeople have conspired against Algeria so that its flag doesn\u2019t get raised and it doesn\u2019t win the gold medal,\u201d she said.
