Government\u2019s move comes after bench decided to proceed with case despite calls for a full court bench from opposition parties
\n ISLAMABAD
\nFederal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah has said that references against Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial and two other judges of the Supreme Court are under consideration.
\nIn an exclusive interview given to Independent Urdu last night, the interior minister said that the federal government has not taken any decision to file references against the Chief Justice and two other judges, but this decision may be taken because these three judges have given such decisions which have gone against the PML-N.
\n\u201cOne of these judgments which pertains to Article 63 has been described by every legal person as tantamount to rewriting the Constitution,\u201d he added. Sanaullah further said that it appears that these judges are determined to \u2018handle\u2019 the issue of postponement of election themselves.
\n\u201cThese judges rejected the request of the full court and refused to accept the words of the majority judges.\u201d The interior minister said that Imran Khan is the cause of disagreement in the Supreme Court and the filing of a reference against Justice Qazi Faez Isa on his behalf (by the Tehreek-e-Insaf government) was the reason.
\nHe believed that the division found in the Supreme Court during the PTI regime and the situation today are exactly the same. On a question regarding the option to minus Imran Khan, Sanaullah said that the option to minus someone in democracy is only through election and at this moment all political parties are united on this point.
\n\u2018When he (Imran) wants to negate our political existence, why wouldn\u2019t we?\u2019 he added. On holding elections before October, he said that assemblies should be dissolved after completing their constitutional term and elections should be held within 90 days.
\n\u201cImran Khan has wrongly dissolved the assemblies, which is a wrong and undemocratic act according to the constitutional requirements,\u201d he maintained. On his controversial remark about Imran Khan that \u2018either he will live or us\u2019, the interior minister said that the policy of PTI Chairman is also the same as the latter thinks that the opposition parties in the country are a problem that must be solved.
\n\u201cThey (PTI government) tried their best to eliminate us during their tenure and made false cases against us,\u201d Sanaullah said adding that Imran Khan\u2019s great plan was to eliminate the opposition and it is his philosophy that opponents should not stay.
\nHe said that the media was mistaken that we are planning to kill him and the basis of this misunderstanding is Imran Khan. \u2018When we talk, we talk about politics, but every time he talks, he talks about his murder,\u201d the interior minister remarked. \u2018On the question regarding action against former prime minister Imran Khan under Article 6, he said that it has become a custom to talk about invoking Article 6 every time. Though the punishment for his words is not less than Article 6, but the requirements of this article are different, he held.
\nOn negotiations with the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and their resettlement in Pakistan, the interior minister said that \u2018there has been an attempt to resettle them, which was done in the previous government.\u2019
\nAs prime minister and political leader, Imran Khan has held this kind of opinion and that is why he was called Taliban Khan, Sanaullah maintained. Asked about the agreement to extend the ceasefire with the TTP, the interior minister said that no such negotiations are taking place with them at the government level.
\nIn response to another question, the interior minister said that party leader Nawaz Sharif will come to Pakistan before the election. On the alleged disappearance of PTI media cell\u2019s organizer Azhar Mashwani and other party workers, the interior minister said \u2018now they have returned.
\nThey must write to us where they were abducted and who abducted them\u2019. \u201cAs the interior minister, I ask them to write an application, we will file an FIR and investigate. They do not speak for themselves and only use things for political propaganda,\u201d added.
\nOn the development in the case of journalist Arshad Sharif, he said that he was murdered, after his family expressed no confidence, the Supreme Court made a joint investigation team which is looking into the matter.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
